Unit 1 is comprised of the basic skills needed to evaluate algebraic expressions and to solve variable equations. Competence in these areas are an absolute necessity to passing Algebra 1.

Each lesson is comprised of a video lesson with downloadable lesson worksheets with and without solutions and a series of graded practice exams which provide step by step solutions to every problem on the exam.

Section 1 - Order of Operations PEMDAS

Students must apply mathematical operations and evaluate grouping symbols in the proper order (Parenthesis, Exponents, Multiplication/Division, Addition/Subtraction) to guarantee correct results when evaluating expressions and solving equations.

Section 2 - The Distributive Property A(x+y)=Ax + Ay

Algebra is the branch of mathematics which substitutes letters(variables) for numbers. The distributive property allows mathmatical operations to be completed when variables and numbers are combined in an expression or equation.
