Unit 8 is comprised of the study of exponents and their properties. Students will learn to add and divide variables with exponents (including zero and negative exponents) and to simplify exponential expressions. Students will also learn to read, write and compute with numbers in scientific notation.

Each lesson is comprised of a video lesson with downloadable lesson worksheets with and without solutions and a series of graded practice exams which provide step by step solutions to every problem on the exam.

Section 1 - Simplifying Exponential Expression (5^2)^-3

Students will learn to simplify exponential expressions which contain integers with positive, negative and zero exponents.

Section 2 - Variable Exponential Expressions x^3/x^5*x^4

Students will learn to simplify exponential expressions which contain variables with positive, negative and zero exponents.

Section 3 - Scientific Notation 5.6 X 10^2

Students will learn to convert numbers from standard notation to scientific notation and to reverse the process. Students will also learn to multiply and divide numbers in scientific notation.
